Triage Tape

It is an economical and disposable emergency marking solution that exceeds all industry specifications.

Triage Tape is known to many industry specialists as barricade tape. This product was designed in conjunction with the approved casualty management colors of triage ribbon. Triage Tape is printed with designated S.T.A.R.T. legends to enhance communication between agencies and to further alleviate mass confusion during a mass casualty event.
What is Triage?
Triage is a method of ranking sick or injured people according to the severity of their sickness or injury in the event of a mass casualty incident, natural disaster, car wreck, or terrorist attack. By properly marking the victims, patients can be directed to the most appropriate care and medical agencies, thus allowing facilities to be used more efficiently.
The S.T.A.R.T. System

Treatment

The S.T.A.R.T. system, developed by HOAG Hospital and
the Newport Beach Fire Department (Newport Beach, CA), helps prepare emergency personnel to quickly organize
their resources to handle multi-casualty emergencies.
Using S.T.A.R.T., various agencies assume predetermined roles in managing the emergency. On-scene personnel
quickly evaluate the situation and call in the appropriate
extra resources and assign them specific tasks. Because
of the planning and training that is the core of the
S.T.A.R.T. system, agencies and individuals know what
they are expected to do when they arrive at the scene.

The triage portion of S.T.A.R.T. relies on making a rapid assessment (taking less than a minute) of every patient, determining which of four categories patients should be in, and visibly identifying the categories for rescuers who will
treat the patients.

The S.T.A.R.T. Designated Color System
  The 1ST PRIORITY is to find and
treat the IMMEDIATE patients
with a life threatening situation.
  The 2ND PRIORITY is to find and
treat DELAYED patients - patients
that are not as severe as 1st priority.
 

The 3RD PRIORITY is find and treat
the patients with MINOR injuries
that are ambulatory.
  The 4TH PRIORITY is to find
those that are DECEASED or
require no care.
